The AusSMC works with scientists to help bridge the gap between science and the news media. By being on the AusSMC expert database you will have a stronger voice on the issues of the day and will be adding your support to a growing movement that encourages and supports evidence-based reporting. Our database is not public and we will not make your contact details available to journalists without speaking to you first.
Who are the AusSMC’s experts?
The AusSMC draws on a wide range of experts from scientific institutions across Australia. We currently have over 3000 experts listed on our database. The AusSMC’s activities inform and sometimes trigger debate, but are not intended to endorse particular policies or boost the profile of specific individuals or organisations. SMC Global Network
There are now science media centres in five countries (UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Japan) with others on the way (Denmark, China, Norway, Italy, the US and Pakistan). The centres collaborate extensively and are in the process of developing a global network that has the potential to become an international force for evidence-based science in the media. The network will also help increase Australian expert representation in the overseas media, including translation of expert comments into other languages, such as Japanese, Chinese and French.
